I am not big on the usual Self Help books where a doctor spends 35 chapters telling you how to fix yourself, but I am a sucker for this style. I love to read about someone working to change themselves. Perhaps this is reality TV for the literary bunch. In fact, I suppose that really does make sense.
Was this book life changing? No. Did it make me ponder my own happiness and my thoughts of what happiness means? It actually did. Now I’m not saying that reading this book made me instantly thankful for what I have and therefore happier with my life but I am still pondering why I do certain things. It’s also allowed me to think about why I don’t do certain things and that has opened much. I am one of those annoying people who believe that there is a greater plan and that all things happen for a reason. That doesn’t mean I think we have no choice in what we do, I just think that when we’re ready for things the universe has a way of providing us with the tools we need at the time.
I liked the way she set herself goals for each month and struggled with them in print for us all to read and relate. I enjoyed reading the way all of this affected others around her. The book had some parts that were a bit slower than others and I will admit I skipped over some of those slower parts to get to the juicy bits. All in all though, I enjoyed this book and I found it interesting to ponder what makes someone happy.
